Frequently asked questions.

What areas does London is a Garden cover?

We provide gardening services in South East London covering Lewisham, Brockley, Crofton Park, Honor Oak, Ladywell, Lee, Hither Green, Blackheath, Nunhead and Peckham. By special arrangement we have occasional clients in South West London too.

What will happen with the green waste?

We do not remove green waste created from our maintenance or planting sessions. You must provide either a council garden waste bin or compost area for the materials to be disposed in. If this is not possible then green waste will be neatly bagged up and stored on your property for alternative disposal by you.

What tools do you use?

We use only electric (battery powered) and hand tools which can be better for the environment than petrol tools.

How much does your maintenance service cost?

We provide very good value for money and a high quality of service and trust whilst working in your space. There are different options for regular maintenance and less frequent sessions and price is dependent on your needs and the time involved in completing the job.

We can also accommodate a ‘Choose your own price’ quote that may fit better within your budget. Please get in touch and we can discuss your specific request in more detail.

Do you use pesticides/fungicides or herbicides?

At London is a Garden we try to avoid using harmful chemicals at all costs. We can provide alternative solutions and ideas to help manage or prevent issues in your garden. Although we uphold the highest visual and aesthetic standards in our work we also hope that our clients can embrace some wildness and imperfection in their spaces if it is of benefit to the ecosystem in your garden.

What days can I book you?

We work Monday-Friday 8am-4pm, although some weekend work can be organised by special arrangement. Scheduling is dependent on whether you are a regular or one-off client but we always endeavour to accommodate times that work for you.

What kinds of payments do you accept?

We invoice via email after the work is complete, or at the end of the month if using regular services. We currently don’t accept card payments on the day of the work.

Do you provide on-demand services or only scheduled services?

If you are in need of a last minute tidy up for a weekend BBQ or need the garden in peak condition for a house viewing we can accommodate some last minute requests. These spaces are very limited and costed at a higher rate so planning ahead is best if at all possible.

How do I get a quote?

1. Email londonisagarden@gmail.com with a rough outline of your needs, your full name, address and rough size of your garden/outdoor space.

2. We will respond promptly and if the job is within our remit and we have available sessions we will schedule in a free consultation to discuss your requirements in further detail and what we can offer you.

3. Final pricing and scheduling will be sent through to you via email after the consultation for you to confirm.

Are you insured?

We have full public liability insurance and are trained by the Royal Horticultural Society to uphold the highest horticultural practices in the industry and provide a professional service.

Do you do hard-landscaping?

As well as all the soft landscaping services, we provide some more general maintenance tasks such as painting sheds, adding edging to borders or re-staining garden furniture. However, we do not undertake most hard landscaping. Please drop us a message if you are not sure and we can let you know if we are the right ones for the job.

What is the best time of year to have gardening done?

There are definitely seasonal considerations to make for different garden tasks and we want to provide the best horticultural practice for you. As we offer year round services we can easily accommodate different sessions at the appropriate time of year, or make you aware of the best times to book certain jobs in so you can plan ahead. Regular garden maintenance sessions are the best way to ensure your garden is looked after effectively year round.

Do you offer tree surgury?

We do some small scale tree pruning, however we cannot prune larger trees and these will need to be done by a registered tree surgeon.
